For the month of October, Napa has created an earthy menu of bourbon and wild game that will highlight the fall season. Tuesday, Oct 13, 6:30 PM. VIP Tasting with Scotch Sommelier Rachael Ewing. Meet one of two female “Scotch Sommeliers” in the United States. You don’t want to miss this unique opportunity to explore the world of Scotch with one of the nation’s foremost authorities on Scotch, Rachael Ewing. Her career in whisky started at the Grill Bar in Aberdeen, a Scottish heritage and award-winning establishment. There she became familiar with the distilling process and acquired specific knowledge of over 600 expressions, varying in flavor according to age, region and distiller. Rachael holds an expert’s level certificate in the Sales and Service of Scotch Whisky from the Scotch Whisky Heritage Center in Edinburgh as well as a certificate from the Filson Bourbon Academy. Tickets include a generous sampling of whisky, light appetizers and the opportunity to learn in a relaxed, unintimidating atmosphere. Thursday, Oct 15, 7 PM. Scotch Whiskey from William Grant & Sons. Join Tim Pitts, who will lead a tasting of whiskey from the William Grant portfolio. We will start the evening with a great bend, Monkey Shoulder, a mix of three different Single Malts – Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie.
