Juicy Lucy is the first mobile glassblowing studio of her kind. Firstly, the glassblowing equipment is allcontained within the van as opposed to the traditional set up of being pulled behind a vehicle on a trailer. simply press a button on a remote and out comes the furnace. Secondly, the van and all of the
equipment run on vegetable oil, making it the first "green" mobile glassblowing studio ever built.
Juicy Lucy is the brainchild of Glassworks and is a partnership between Westport Village and Glassworks. The van mechanics were designed and implemented by McCormick Motorsports, the glassblowing equipment was designed and built by
Glassworks artist, Chad Balster. The exterior painting of the van was designed and painted by notable graffiti artist, Sean Griffin.
Juicy Lucy will be on site at Westport Village one weekend
a month, and will also be available for festivals, private parties, schools, or anywhere she can drive! Artists will do glassblowing demonstrations, and the public will also have
the opportunity to try their hand at blowing glass themselves with the assistance of the Glassworks artists.
